FAQs
Everything you need to know about our studio. We hope to make your time in our studio as calm, relaxing and enjoyable as possible, as well as ensuring your safety and comfort.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to send us an email. We are happy to help.
How do I book an appointment?
Please send an email describing your idea, size and placement on the body. We will direct you towards the right artist, based on your chosen style and artist availability.
All our artists book their own appointments. If you know which artist you would like to book in with, feel free to content them directly.
All our artist profiles are available on the website, where you can see examples of each artist’s work.
Is the studio easy to find and accessible?
Ashton Ink is located around 10 minutes walk from the town centre the tram, bus and train stations.
The nearest car parks are on Church Street and Wood Street and both cost just £4 for the day and a l minute walk to the studio.
Our shop is wheel chair accessible, however, unfortunately, the toilet cubicles are built with a step up to the toilet and they are quite narrow, so they may not be accessible to all wheelchair users. We are sorry for the inconvenience this may cause.
When should I arrive for my appointment and can I bring someone with me?
Please arrive as close to your appointment time as possible. There is no need to be early, in fact, this can often put pressure on the artists to wrap up their lunch break/prep time or previous appointment.
If you can, please come to your appointment alone, but if you need extra support on the day, we can only allow one companion per client and they will be asked to sit in the reception area.
How should I prepare for my appointment?
Drink plenty of water in the days coming up to your appointment.
Exfoliate and moisturise your skin, but there is no need to shave, we will do this for you on the day. Please make sure you have good hygiene, it should go without saying 😊
Eat a full meal before your appointment and avoid drinking large amounts of caffeine.
What should I bring to my appointment?
Please bring some food, water snacks tokeep your body nourished and hydrated.
Bring a book/headphones, your vape and anything that will make you feel entertained and relaxed during your appointment.
What should I wear to my appointment?
Please wear comfy, loose clothing that you don’t mind getting ink on. Please wear clothing with appropriate access for the area you will be getting tattooed.
For example;
- For a lower leg tattoo, wear or bring shorts or loose pants that can be easily pulled up vs right jeans/leggings.
- For a sternum tattoo, wear a button down shirt vs a hoodie.
How to best plan and time my appointment.
Please avoid booking your appointment immediately before or after a sunny holiday. We cannot tattoo sunburnt or peeling skin and your tattoo will not heal correctly if exposed to direct sunlight or submerged in water in the first 3 weeks of healing.
Your body will need to rest and recover after your tattoo. Please avoid planning big nights out or strenuous activities for the first couple of days after your session.
How do you price tattoos?
Our shop minimum charge for any tattoo is £60. Prices will vary depending on style, complexity and artist. Please message us if you would like to find out more information or would like a price estimate.
Is the studio licensed and insured?
Yes, our studio is fully insured, licensed with Tameside Council and each individual artist holds their own personal tattooing licence. Our artists follow strict hygiene and sanitation protocols to ensure your safety.
How old do I need to be to get a tattoo?
You need to be legally over the age of 18 and show proof of ID to get tattooed in our studio. It is illegal to tattoo anybody under the age of 18 and we do not accept parental consent for underage clients.
Do you accept walk ins?
It’s usually best to book your appointment in advance to avoid being turned away at the door. To check if we have same day availability, please drop us a message in the morning and we will do our best to arrange an appointment as soon as possible.
Is your furniture plus size friendly?
Yes, we have plus size friendly stations, but if you have any specific requests or adjustments you would like to request, please feel free to drop us a message and we will do our best to accommodate you.
Is your studio a safe space for LGBTQ, Neurodivergent and Vulnerable People?

Some of our artists are also Neurodiverse and we make sure the studio is a chilled space with calm music, ambient lighting and relaxed atmosphere.
